About This Game Red-haired adventurer extraordinaire Adol Christin has finally reunited with his best pal, Dogi, and is eager to set sail for new adventures in Afroca. It seems fate has other plans for him, however, as a pirate captain named Ladoc makes him an offer he simply can't refuse: a chance to explore a dangerous, uncharted archipelago in the Atlas Ocean that may hold treasures of heretofore unseen value.Never ones to back away from a good mystery, Adol and Dogi both agree to join Ladoc on this expedition aboard his ship, the “Tres Mares” -- but no sooner does it weigh anchor than the Romuns, their sights set on the same curious islands of Canaan, attack the wayward pirates and ultimately knock Adol overboard, leaving him for dead. Some time later, he washes ashore in Canaan itself, alive but weakened, rescued and resuscitated by two young girls named Isha and Olha who sport long ears and bushy tails. They are of the native “Rehda” tribe, and it seems Adol is not the first human to arrive here -- nor are humans particularly welcome...Come experience the very first 3D Ys game as you've never experienced it before! It's an acceptable action RPG, so I recommend it, but it's a disappointment compared to Origins\/Felghana. As someone who truly loves the difficulty of this series and plays every game on the hardest difficulty option, this game is by far the easiest and most un-creative while almost never punishing the player. The first boss fight is a perfect example, where you can literally just stand at the bottom of the screen and never get hit, and you can always run back to the bottom of the screen and know you're safe. This wouldn't fly in the other Ys games, you'd get destroyed if you didn't adapt to every boss attack. It doesn't get much better from that point on and most fights you can mindlessly rush-down and it's more of a DPS race than it is a boss battle, this is extremely apparent in the final boss fight as well. As someone who praises the Ys games highly, I can't express how upset this game made me. *** ONLY PLAY THIS GAME IF YOU WANT AN EASIER YS GAME OR IF YOU'VE ALREADY PLAYED THE OTHER YS GAMES AND JUST WANT ''MORE'' ***. Another top tier action RPG by Nihon Falcom.Fast paced, challenging yet rewarding hack-n-slash action. As far as the older Ys games go, this one does a reasonable job and cobbling together a relatively cliche, but interesting story that does well to tie the game together and to keep you moving forward.Absolutely smashing sound-track as always. Not Falcom's best work but still much better than many other games.Definitely grab this if: Enjoyed Ys games in the past \/ have already cleared the earlier games Enjoy playing retro action games Can't get enough of that Silicon Graphics low-fi vibe Enjoy ARPG\/Hack n Slash games Like Falcom games, because, Falcom Enjoy ARPG\/Hack n Slash gamesOtherwise grab it on sale when it's cheap - but only if you have played the earlier games first!.
